    Lawrence L. Ginsburg is a partner in the firm's Litigation and Bankruptcy practice groups. Mr. Ginsburg regularly represents financial institutions and international corporate entities. He has litigated creditor rights/insolvency, intellectual property, construction, entertainment and other corporate and commercial disputes. Through his representation of financial institutions and manufacturers, Mr. Ginsburg has gained broad experience and recognition in the international diamond and jewelry industry. Currently, Mr. Ginsburg represents the Official Committees of Unsecured Creditors in M. Fabrikant & Sons, Inc. (S.D.N.Y.), Friedman's Inc. (Del), and Whitehall Jewelers Inc. (Del) bankruptcy cases.

    Among notable cases litigated by Mr. Ginsburg are:
    • In re Ben Cooper, Inc. (Ben Cooper, Inc. v. The Insurance Company of the State of Pennsylvania), 896 F.2d 1394 (2d Cir. 1990), landmark case establishing right to jury trial in bankruptcy court and "core" status of post-petition contract claims;
    • Union Bank of Israel Ltd. v. I.M.D. U.S.A., Inc. (Supreme Court, New York County, Index No. 602142/02), obtained summary judgment for plaintiff bank and dismissal of fraud counterclaims exceeding $90 million, October 2005;
    • Star Diamond Group, Inc. v. DataStudy, Inc. (American Arbitration Association, New York 2001), obtained a $1.3 million award based upon the negligent purchase and implementation of OracleApplications;
    • Diamond Direct, LLC v. Star Diamond Group, Inc., 116 F.Supp.2d 525 (S.D.N.Y. 2000), obtained dismissal on summary judgment of copyright infringement claim regarding diamond ring designs;
    • Belgo-Asian Diamond Cy. v. European American Bank & Trust Co., 168 A.D.2d 345 (1st Dep't 1990), successful defense of bank in multi-million dollar lender liability trial commenced by international diamond dealers -- jury verdict affirmed on appeal;
    • Silhouette Drywall Corp. v. 645 First Avenue Manhattan Co., (American Arbitration Association, New York 1996), successfully represented developer of New York City's largest apartment tower in arbitration commenced by building's drywall contractor;
    • Galen Partners v. Vi-Jon Laboratories, (American Arbitration Association, Dallas, Texas 1996), obtained a multi-million dollar verdict on behalf of health care venture fund in arbitration involving the sale of a generic cosmetics company; and
    • McConnell v. Transatlantic Capital Corp., ABN AMRO Bank N.V., et al., 1993 WL 337996 (S.D.N.Y. 1993), dismissal of multi-million dollar RICO action against bank.
    Prior to becoming engaged in private practice, Mr. Ginsburg worked as an Assistant District Attorney for Bronx County from 1973 to 1975.
